Cambridge English YLE Tests; Glorious Performance of PakTurk Young Learners.

After getting teh status of Cambridge English Assessment Approved Centre, PakTurk International Schools and Colleges, offered a chance to its students to take world-famous Cambridge English YLE Exams.The results showed 100 percent success of the students with an average score of around 90 percent. More than 25 percent students got full bands.

Spelling Bee Contest at PAKTURK Quetta

Day was Saturday, location was Boys section, Quetta and air was full of thrill as 14 teams (42 spellers) were going to get into a battle to crown as the champion of Inter-Classes Spelling Bee Competition. Everyone was eager and strange things were known about the preparation of Spellers. Class 8-A, that later on became the champion of the day, had prepared for eight hours the day before and teacher had made the students stay at hostel for the preparation that continued even the competition day after morning prayers till the last moments of competition. Class 9-B team was noticed to be sitting and asking each other the spellings of different words the whole last week. Although in competitions, students take part but they never prepare for it like examination but for this spelling bee, fever was on the peak and every one had prepared the way they used to prepare for their examination.
The Arrangements:
Competition was held in a tent with arrangements done keeping in view the smooth and standard proceedings of spelling bee contests. On stage, 42 chairs of spellers were arranged where as the pronouncer and the jury faced them on a side. More than 200 seating capacity arrangements were done for the parents and students. Mr. Javed Saba took smoothly the proceedings as the compare while Head of English Department Quetta, Mr. Muhammad Rasool was the pronouncer. English teachers, Mr. Bilal and Mr. Abdul Baseer were active as the members of jury. Mr. Javed Iqbal was responsible for Prize distribution while teachers and prefects performed their duties to maintain discipline.
The Proceedings:
Mr. Javed Saba welcomed the guests and briefed them about the Spelling Bee Contests held in PAKTURK Quetta. It was the fourth occasion when Inter-Classes Spelling Bee Contest has been held while school also maintains the record of arranging first ever ALL-BALOCHISTAN INTER-SCHOOLS SPELLING BEE CONTEST in 2009.
Shahabuddin of Class 8-A got the honor of recitation of the verses from Holy Quran. After that, Principal of PAKTURK QUETTA, Mr. Ahmet KESTER delivered his welcome speech and talked about the different activities arranged in the school this year.
Then the contest started. In the beginning, words asked were comparatively easy and with each following round, level of difficulty of words increased. Slowly number of teams present on stage decreased and in round 18 only two teams were remaining on the stage. Then, both the teams had a nail-biting contest in which both the teams spelled out correctly the most difficult words given to them and they continued so till round 26 when team of class 9-A made a mistake while their opponents class 8-A not only spelled out correctly the given word but also the following CHAMPIONSHIP word and became the champions of this breath-taking contest.
Then certificates and prizes were distributed among the participants and winners. All the English teachers put their share in this distribution of certificates and prizes. Mr. Mehmet DURU gave away participation certificates to class 6 students while Mr. Zekai gave away certificates to the students of class 7. Mr. Baseer did so for class 8 while certificates of class 9 and 10 were given away by Mr. Bilal. For all the 9 members of the champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up teams, OXFORD ADVANCED LEARNERS DICTIONARY (8th Edition) were gifted. Mr. Muhammad Rasool gave dictionaries to the 3rd position holder team and Mr. Osman BASKAN did so for the second position holder team. Then Mr. Ahmet KESTER, our worthy principal, gave away the dictionaries, shields to each member and Champions trophy to the winning team. In this way, a day came to end that was to be remembered by everyone present on the spot.
The Champion Team:
Class 8: Fatima Qayyum, Muhammad Yar, Hassaan Mehmood.
First Runners-up team:
Class 9: Hassan Abbas, Khalil Wali, Muhammad Haris.
Second Runners-up team:
Class 8: Muhammad Faiq, Khurram Fattah, Nabeel Wali.

DAWN SPELLING BEE 2010

PAKTURK English Department Quetta chapter, organized First All Balochistan Spelling Bee Contest. In final round, 16 prominent schools across the province participated. The thrilling encounter finished with the roars of applause when PAKTURK Quetta youngsters, Abdul Rahman, Muhammad Salman and Muhammad Usman were declared winners.

Now when DAWN Spelling Bee is approaching, PAKTURK students are ready to prove that they are second to none. Our students are participating in all three categories, i.e. Age Groups 9 to 11 years, 12 to 14 years and 15 to 17 years. After being selected from their schools, now these students will compete for the selection from their respective cities. Final Round is scheduled in January 2010.
