Oxford Professional Development Workshops


A week full of learning, sharing and fun is going to start on March 17 2013. It is time for English Department intensive refresher workshops, the first phase of which will be held at Karachi on March 17-19, 2013. In first phase the PakTurk English faculty members from Karachi, Quetta, Khairpur, Jamshoro and Hyderabad barnches will participate. 
The second phase of the workshops will be held in Islamabad on 21-23 March, 2013, where the teachers from Islamabad, Lahore, Multan and Peshawar branches will participate. A total of more than 100 teachers will be attending three-days programs. Workshop leaders will be Bill Bowler, Julietta Schoenmann and Suhail Aziz. 
Both the guest trainers are experienced ELT professionals with vast experience of teaching, writing and teacher training.    
Bill Bowler is co-author of the bestselling primary Happy Series (OUP) American and British English versions. He is series co-editor of the secondary-targeted Dominoes Graded Readers (OUP) and co-author of theHeadway Pronunciation Course (OUP) for adults. He authored the Oxford Bookworms playscript reader ‘The Butler Did It’ (OUP), and has won two ESU awards to date for his ELT writing. A former CELTA trainer, Bill is an approved Oxford Teacher’s Academy key trainer and mentor, specializing in Adult, Teenage, Young and Very Young Learners. He is especially interested in CLIL, the CEF, Extensive Reading, Pronunciation, Drama, Literary Texts in ELT, and Mixed Ability Teaching. He has given workshops and conference plenaries in 30 countries to date. Bill holds an MA Degree in English from Cambridge University (English Literature), and the RSA Diploma in TEFL.



Julietta Schoenmann
Julietta Schoenmann has been a language teacher and teacher trainer for over twenty years, working in state and language schools in China, Eritrea, Turkey, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. She has been training teachers and trainers in countries as diverse as Bangladesh, Serbia, Thailand and Iraq but also works on educational assignments such as developing training materials and curriculum reform. Her interests include teacher development in low resourced environments and promoting learner engagement in large, mixed ability classrooms.

That's a great tradition of PakTurk, to facilitate and train the teachers. It was wonderful experience attending the previous workshop, and better expectations for the coming one.
We're eagerly waiting for learning new things from the experiences of the trainers.
